Militarie Gun drop God Save The Gun deluxe with Anthony Green cover
The expanded edition adds collaborations with Mannequin Pussy and Dazy, a new track called "3 AM," and Green's take on "Thought You Were Waving."
Militarie Gun have issued the deluxe edition of God Save The Gun. The expanded release adds "World's Always Burning" with Mannequin Pussy, "I've Said Too Much" with Dazy, the new song "3 AM," and Anthony Green's cover of "Thought You Were Waving."
The cover started informally. Vocalist Ian Shelton says Green had already sent him a video of himself performing the song, which prompted the idea of cutting a proper version. Shelton called the result proof that a song can be nothing more than the first draft of an idea, adding that Green's take is the one now stuck in his head instead of his own. Green, for his part, described the opportunity as a privilege and said he is "an enormous fan of the band."
The release lands as the band kicks off its 20 Songs for 20 Dollars headline run, which prices tickets at $20 for every date. Softcult, Shady Nasty and Dazy are handling support across select shows on the itinerary.
Once that leg wraps, Militarie Gun are booked for this year's CBGB Festival and will open for the Sex Pistols next month, putting the group in front of two very different crowds within weeks of each other.
"Thought You Were Waving (Anthony's Version)" is streaming now alongside the rest of the deluxe edition.
