Second Summer reveals first wave with Militarie Gun, High Vis and Dune Rats
The Toronto festival takes over more than a dozen venues across the city from September 24 to 26
Second Summer has revealed the first wave of artists for this year's edition. The Toronto-based festival runs September 24 through 26, with Militarie Gun, High Vis, Dune Rats and Cleopatrick among the names leading the initial announcement.
The lineup stretches well beyond punk. Also confirmed are EKKSTACY, MIKE, Folk Bitch Trio, Esprit, W.I.T.C.H., Clarion, DEADLETTER, B.A. Johnston, Bells Larsen, Cartel Madras, Truck Violence, Chinese Medicine, Shiv and the Carvers, Downtown Boys, Customer Service, cootie catcher, Emma Goldman and idailedyournumber.
Rounding out the first wave are Softcult, Loviet, Kiwi Jr., PISS, Motorists, Penny and the Pits, Ribbon Skirt, Shrewd, Smut, sundayclub and WAIT//LESS. Organizers have not said whether additional names will be added.
Rather than a single site, Second Summer spreads across multiple rooms in the city. Confirmed venues include The Baby G, Bovine Sex Club, Horseshoe Tavern, Lee's Palace, Drake Underground, Sneaky Dee's, St. Anne's Parish, Longboat Hall, Mod Club, the Garrison, Monarch Tavern and the Great Hall.
The multi-venue setup lets acts of very different sizes share the same bill, with smaller sets in rooms like The Baby G alongside bigger shows at longtime Toronto institutions such as the Horseshoe Tavern and Lee's Palace.
