Saves The Day return with "Invader," featuring Quicksand's Walter Schreifels
The band's first new music since 2018 was co-written with the Quicksand frontman and arrives with an accompanying video.
Saves The Day have broken a long silence with "Invader," their first new release since 2018. The single features guest vocals from Quicksand's Walter Schreifels, who also co-wrote the track with the band.
The group has framed "Invader" as a spiritual successor to "Disengage" by Youth of Today, a nod to the hardcore records that shaped them. Work on the song began at Schreifels' studio in Upstate New York, with production later completed alongside Steve Evetts in Nashville and New Jersey.
"It was a dream to work on 'Invader' together with our hero Walter Schreifels," vocalist Chris Conley said, adding that recording with Evetts felt like coming home after a long stretch away. A video for the song was released at the same time.
On the live front, Saves The Day will open for Taking Back Sunday on the band's headline tour before heading to the UK, where they will mark the 25th anniversary of "Stay What You Are" later this fall. Chastity and Turn of Phrase are set to join those dates.
Released in 2001, "Stay What You Are" remains the band's most widely celebrated album and the record most often cited when tracing the development of American emo. With "Invader," the group returns to releasing new material after years built largely around anniversary shows and touring.
